Job title: TRANSPORT MANAGER
Job type: Full-time Salary: £46,000
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the company’s vehicle fleet, ensuring vehicles are maintained, serviced, and replaced as needed.
- Plan and manage fleet expansion in line with business growth and the new Manchester warehouse operations.
- Develop efficient delivery schedules and routes to minimise fuel costs, reduce transit times, and maximise vehicle utilisation.
- Coordinate deliveries across England, Wales, and expanding metropolitan markets.
- Ensure full compliance with UK transport laws, including driver working hours, vehicle licensing, road safety standards, and environmental regulations.
- Work closely with warehouse teams to synchronise stock levels and delivery schedules.
- Ensure timely dispatch of products from the main warehouse.
- Manage drivers and logistics personnel, providing guidance, training, and performance oversight.
- Promote a culture of safety, efficiency, and professionalism within the transport team.
- Monitor operational costs, including fuel, maintenance, and vehicle depreciation.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining service quality.
- Assist management in planning for fleet and logistics expansion to support new regional markets.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience in fleet management, including overseeing vehicle maintenance, scheduling deliveries, and ensuring efficient vehicle utilisation.
- Strong knowledge of UK transport and logistics regulations, including driver working hours, vehicle safety, licensing, and environmental standards.
- Experience in logistics planning and route optimisation to improve delivery efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Strong leadership and team management skills to supervise drivers and logistics staff and ensure adherence to safety procedures.
- Excellent problem-solving and organisational skills to manage day-to-day transport operations and respond effectively to logistical challenges.
